You might have noticed that I didn’t post my drugstore finds yesterday. Yeah, well there are two reasons for that. First of all, I pretty much just picked up super cheap Easter candy at CVS which I can’t post since one of my kids actually reads my blog.
Sorry to burst your bubble Aidan, but yes. I’m the Easter Bunny.
The other reason is because Shannon got much worse before she got better this weekend. The poor thing had such a high fever that she developed a terrible ulcer on the inside of her mouth. It just sucked the energy out of her. Really, it broke my heart.
She is much better now, but it was rough going over here for awhile. Therefore, I pretty much just concentrated on the food deals this week. With Easter rapidly approaching, I need to focus on getting what I need for the big meal.
This week, I was very lucky to score .50 a jar Vlasic pickles, $1 a box Cheezits, $1.32 bars of Cracker Barrel cheese (Shan’s favorite), and .80 bags of Nestle chocolate morsels (sweet!)
I also grabbed $1.49/lb spiral ham that netted me some decent gas points. And I’m thinking I’ll need all of the gas points I can get in the coming months. Things are getting plum crazy at the pump.
For the most part, I stuck to my shopping list. However, I was swayed to try Pom Wonderful thanks to the $1/1 blinkie. They are on sale this week for $2.50. So, only $1.50 after coupon.
Which is still pretty pricey for juice in my opinion, but Michael has been nagging me to pick this up because he had it a friend’s house and loved it. At $4.29 a bottle, he better not get too addicted to it. It won’t be making its way into my fridge at $4.29 a bottle.
I didn’t see too much by the way of new blinkies or tear pads, but I did find this new booklet by Kraft.
There are some nice coupons in it, including .55/1 Nilla wafers, .40/2 Philadelphia, and .55/3 Jello. All items that many of us use on a daily basis, so a very good find!
$53.04 spent (dang ham and produce) and $102.89 saved. Not too shabby considering the lack of good food deals lately. Now more than ever I’m appreciating a good sale since they are so few and far between lately.
How about you? What are you excited about this week? Are you finding good deals on food for your stockpile or is it slim pickin’s?

Hope Shannon is feeling better!! Love those pickles, great deal! Slim pickings here, sigh.
Brittany (NY)
I picked up some land o lakes butter for $1 a piece and Silk Almond milk & Coconut milk for $1-$1.50 a piece which made me very happy since my brother can go through the milk like it is nothing.
I also got really cheap eggs & cheap makeup. So, I’m pretty happy since I never get the good deals that often.
I just wish I had more Silk milk coupons! haha
I was able to get eight boxes of Rice Krispies for 50¢ each that also had peelies on them for a free big bag of M&M’s when you buy two boxes, so I got four bags of them free to go along with my cheap cereal!
I hope Shannon has a quick recovery. Did any of the other kids get sick also?I hope not. I happened to find some great clearance finds at Wags this weekend: Morton Salt and Nestle semi-sweet morsels both for 50Cents a pack. Yes, I now have 8 (yes I said 8) bags of chocolate chips at my house. Ralphs market has large eggs for .88 cents a dozen (just in time for the bunny).
Anonymous- She is feeling better. Thank you.
Brittany- Isn’t it awesome when you get a deal on something you need? That soy milk is a steal. Two of my kids are allergic to it. If it weren’t for that I’d be stocking up myself. And I got that $1 butter too. Happy dance.
Anonymous- Congrats on your Rice Krispies. What an amazing deal. And free M&Ms are always welcome.
Anonymous- Nope, no other kids got it, yet. Fingers crossed that it stays that way. Great deal on the morsels and eggs. Timely indeed!
Cracker Barrel cheese is my hubby’s favorite. Please share how you were able to score such a low price.
My daughter got the same thing as Shannon. She just turned two. About 3 weeks ago, she had a really high fever, then got sores on the inside of her mouth. Poor thing was just miserable. Thankfully after 3-4 days they were gone. But it just crushed me to see her in so much pain.
My Shaw’s had Rice Dream Rice Nog and Chocolate pepperming Soy milk for $1 in the quick sell. Sell by date end of July and Sept. $1 off store coupons on Pasta Prima plus my mfg. netted me 2 Packs Pasta Prima and 2 free grated cheese for $3.98. They also had Boursin spinach and artichoke cheese spread with $2 store coupons. And 50% off many of the Morning Star Farms items that were really cheap with mfg. coupons. I scored big!!
For the person who was asking about the Cracker Barrel…
It’s on sale this week for $2.50 at Stop&Shop. Also, there’s an instant savings deal when you buy $25.00 worth of certain items which Cracker Barrel is part of. However, you need to hit the $25.00 after coupons which necessitated me buying 8 cheese and 8 boxes of Capri Sun. I then used 4 $1/2 Cracker Barrel coupons and 2 buy 3 get one free Capri Sun coupons.
I hope that helps!
Lori- Apparently it’s going around like wildfire. I’m glad your little one is feeling better!
Cookingprincess- Wow! Great deal! I really like that Pasta Prima. It’s delicious!!
I haven’t hit any great deals lately. I think I’m in a funk. My baby also had that high fever virus thing last week, and all the trips to the hospital, doctor, and pharmacy wiped me of all my energy-so I’m not on my A-game this week either
Saturday, I used all but one of my coupons that expired on the last day of March. Now, I have added lots of pickle relish and mustard to my stockpile. Along with what I already had, now I can last for the next four years. I got several of each–dill pickle relish and sweet pickle relish and French’s mustard, each less than 50 cents after a 50 cent coupon.
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts were $1.57/lb, so I got 9 packs. I discovered last week that I had none in my freezer! Pork ribs were $1.19/lb. I got a $5 pack, enough for quite a few meals for me.
Prego Spaghetti Sauce, large jar, was on sale for 2/$4 and with a coupon they were $1.50.
I am glad Shannon is better.
I was quite pleased with my haul.
