I’m not a huge label person. That said, I recognize quality when I see it. And when my kids were born, I fell in love with Hanna Andersson clothing for kids.
Made in Sweden of high quality knits and fabrics, Hannas are known for their durability. They are also known for unique patterns and mix and match ease.
Every Hanna I’ve ever owned has survived long after the girls have outgrown them. Shannon’s Hannas were given to Leela, who wore them until she grew out of them. And then I passed them down to friend’s kids who could use them. I bet they have been passed on even since. Quality lasts.
As wonderful as Hannas are, they are not inexpensive. But I daresay that you get so much more use out of them than other lines of children’s clothing.
Over the years I found Hannas on eBay and also at the outlet mall in Kittery Maine. It’s a hell of a hike for me, but I would do it once a year to stock up on tights, sweaters, and other items that I had lusted over in the catalog the previous season.
But recently a Hanna outlet opened close to my home. Oh, what a happy day that was. Now I’m able to scoop up bargains left and right. Actually, the prices are even cheaper than Walmart.
Yesterday I was able to stock up on Hanna swimsuits for $6 per piece. I’m not one who’s big on two piece suits for kids, but these are more like tankinis. This summer my girls developed terrible rashes due to the seams on their one piece suits, and I’ve found that the tankinis alleviate that problem.
Hanna swim suits are around $44 for two pieces, but I was able to stock up on suits for $12 per pair. That is a mighty fine price for a well made article of clothing.
Not only did I stock up on swim suits, but I also bought sundresses for next summer. Normally this type of dress runs around $42, but I paid $10. If you could only feel how butter soft the cotton is, you’d totally understand why this is so darn exciting.
This sale only runs through tomorrow, July 30th, but sales like this happen frequently at their outlet stores.
There are only six Hanna outlets in the country, but fret not. I’ve also found amazing deals at the regular Hanna stores and also online during their twice a year Hanna sales. Certainly something to watch for.
Do check to see if you have a Hanna store near you. And even if you have to drive a bit, it’s totally worth it!
How about you? Are you a Hanna Andersson fan? Do you have a Hanna outlet close to you?
This is not a sponsored post. Hanna Andersson doesn’t even know I exist. I paid for all of my Hannas. And I’d do it again.

We love, love , love Hannas.. I had no idea the company actually existed until I ran across some twirl dresses at a yard sale.>> I scooped them up cause my Grandaughter’s only request for dresses is they twirl, and she loved them,, she wore those with leggings all the time..You are right, they are pricy..I always watch for the sales online, but they are still too pricy for me,, Hopefully I can find more at yard sales next year..Our closest mall store is a hour away.. which is probably a good thing for my wallet !! Love your new look Mel !!
First of all, thanks for the kind words about the new site. I’m so relieved that my readers stuck with me.
As far as Hanna goes, you would be shocked at the resale values on eBay. If you were to buy this stuff on sale at the end of the season, you would most likely get close to what you paid for back if you sold your stuff on eBay. Hanna Andersson and American Girl are bot a resale phenomenon. If you watch what the stuff sells for you’ll be amazed.
I didn’t know they opened in wrethem– i see trouble in my future. I love the catalog and try not to look to closely when it comes. The one piece i have of theirs is a boys swim suit, it’s like a little wet suit for my son. It held up wonderfully last year. I would have invested in a new one this year but our beach going was limited by my prg(can’t sit out in the sun) Next spring i’ll have to take my mom for a field trip to wrethem and check the store out.
Oh, definitely. You’ll be thrilled. I saw a ton of boy stuff on sale there recently for crazy prices. Like $5 a piece. Made me want to have another baby. Sort of.
OH NO! They’re at Wrentham!?!? That’s the best/worst news ever! It holds up so well that I’ve made some great ebay and 2nd hand purchases but the full retail price has always kept me away. But outlet prices…
Yup, and the best thing is that it’s outlet pricing as it should be. Not the bs outlet pricing you see everywhere else. Really good deals. Happy shopping!
I wish my girls were little again. It is such a challenge to find quality clothing for teens that doesn’t let it all hang out. My youngest is at that in between stage but she can still were some gymboree pieces that look older and loves the t shirts. She is not a jeans kid like my others. It is so fun to dress and see little ones in those dresses and legging!
Yup! It seems that the teens today are paying a lot of money for very little fabric. I’m sure I’ll have that fight with my girls down the road. Too bad we can’t keep them in long dresses and tights forever.
I wonder when one of these awesome retailers is going to realize that people really do live in the Dakotas. What we wouldn’t give for a GREAT retailer like Hanna or William Sonoma… Really. Last year we finally had a Children’s Place open. Sigh. In the meantime, I just have to drool over your deals.
That has to be hard. I can’t believe you don’t even have a Williams Sonoma. That is cruel and unusual punishment.
!st let me ksay how much I love your site – and your HONESTY! Reading you is like talking to an old friend!! I usually just lurk but wanted to say how much I also LOVE Hanna’s! But my all time favorite was Little Lulu… those outfits with the matching hats… even used I paid big $$ for my favorites and now I can’t bare to get rid of them – what a shame – LOL
…agh, if they would only stay little!!!!!!
Awww, thank you so much for that! I’m so glad you read my blog! I’m a sucker for matching hats too. Though my kids would toss them out of the carriage whenever we went anywhere, lol.
Thanks so much for this post! I’ve been wondering where to find a Hanna outlet- we’re at Fort Belvoir, and I am so excited to see one in Williamsburg! Sounds like a family weekend trip!
You will love it. I’ve never been to Williamsburg, but I hope to someday!
I hear it’s amazing. I have a friend who bought season passes for her family to a nearby theme park in order to go there and be able to shop, lol.
Your post took me on a trip down memory lane when my grown kids were little. Hanna Anderssons was just coming out and way too expensive for us. But twice a year we would make the trip to the children’s clothing store Raschel’s in Foxboro, MA and later, too, in Westboro, MA. The deals were unbelievable! Now, if my kids would just bless me with grandchildren, I would be at the Hanna Anderssons in Wrentham in a heartbeat!!!
And add one more reason your site is so fun to visit. You appeal to a wide variety of ages, and that’s not easy to do unless your posts strike a universal chord. And you get such great comments from your readers that I can’t just read your blog–I have to read the comments, too!
Ha! I used to live in Westboro and shopped Raschel’s all the time. LOVED that store. And yes, I’m very, very lucky to have a readership that is very participatory. I learn so much from you guys. It’s just as much a blessing to me as you all seem to think I bless you. It makes me happy.
Great post Melanie! Love the new look of MITM! Hanna’s are fantastic, glad I don’t live near one of the stores, too tempting!
We happened to stumble upon the Wrentham store on their opening day ( we were headed to another childrens store a few doors down) The deals there are great a couple of weeks ago they had backpacks and messenger bags 50% off the lowest ticket price we got a bag, lunchbox, pencil case and water bottle for under $27.00. We love their backpacks they are so well made and hold a ton of stuff. he price there are true outlet prices not like the places that have the same prices as the stores at the mall. I live in Westborough now I wish that Raschel’s store was still here it sounds great.
Love the blog changes, I hope you are enjoying it as much as we are, it is really a breath of fresh air. I love a good deal but there is more to life than that.
Which is better Wrentham or Kittery? I am still getting use to your site. I miss the leg up with the black heels. But, I will stick with you always very informative.
I heard they are only designed in Sweden, but made in Oregon. Nonetheless, I love them!
