The child who shall not be photographed turned 15 today. And as tradition in this house has it, the birthday child chooses their own dinner. The cost matters not. The birthday child gets to plan the menu.
His sisters request KFC. The child who shall not be photographed prefers lobster.
I guess every family has that one kid who has a refined palette. And in Michael’s case, not only is his art palette refined, so is his culinary palette.
Do you know any teens who ask for Caprese salad with their birthday dinner?
My Michael is not going to be ok with that whole starving artist scene.
Happy birthday Michael. With all of your quirks and caviar tastes, you are a unique member of our family. Your talents astound us and not a day goes by that we look at you and wonder if you were switched at birth.
Because you are filled with talents that neither your father nor I possess, and if it wasn’t for the fact that your father lifted you out of my uterus fifteen years ago, we might wonder where you came from.
Happy 15th birthday son. We pray that this coming year is your best year yet.

Happy happy birthday Michael!! Enjoy a most wonderful year! Judy
Thank you Judy! xoxo
Happy Birthday, Michael and happy BIRTH day to you, too Melanie! The dinner is gorgeous! ~Krista
Krista- Thank you so much! There was a lot of red in tonight’s dinner! But to be honest, we bought a store cake. It was in the 90′s here in New England today. Too hot to bake!
Happy Birthday to your teen who is a little camera shy eh!

Happy Birthday to Michael!! May you celebrate many, many more together! I hope Michael’s tastes continue to be refined and grow with age and experience – and I hope you can afford it!!
Happy Birthday Michael!!!
Happy birthday to michael. That salad looks great. Can you post how to make it ? thanks.
Cute post! Happy Birthday, Michael!!
Happy Birthday Michael! You and I missed sharing a birth date by two days. I love lobster also. Could it be a “Cancer, the Crab” commonality?
Ooooo I have one of those..not like me yet gifted in many other ways, does NOT want to be “shown” online etc… he is even 15!
Theresa- Michael says thank you very much, eh!
Angie- Thanks! He’s happy to have made it this far!
Shopaholic- Yes! I’ll be sharing that recipe this coming week.
Sonya- Thank you!
Ranger- Happy birthday to you, my friend.
Susan F.-Isn’t it a killer? What’s so bad about getting your picture taken? Sigh, teens.
Seeing that picture of your girls holding the lobsters is so.. I don’t even know the word. I’m impressed that they weren’t sad about having to cook it.
Yes I am commenting on old posts!
Lobster has been my birthday dinner since the age of 2years (no joke) it is my favorite. We also got our request for dinner on bdays, so steamed lobster it has been for most of my 30 years. I also ate 2 dozen clams on the half shell when I was 3….i’ve tried to get my 3 year old to have just one and it is a no go.
