Food Buzz 2012

Food Buzz 2012. I came. I ate. I probably gained five pounds in five days, but it was entirely worth it.

As the name implies, Food Buzz is an event that focuses on food. 200+ food bloggers descended upon San Francisco to connect with other writers and to learn more about delicious products that were being showcased at the festival.

Food Buzz kicked off with an ultra ritzy cocktail party atop the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. Bloggers were greeted with sweeping panoramic views of the city while enjoying tasty little bites and cocktails.

The festivities continued on the next morning with a scavenger hunt at the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market. Bloggers were sent out with a list of questions that could only be answered by visiting the various vendors.

It was a great way to learn about the local farmers and their wares. Beans, cheese, pork bellies, mushrooms…

If you can eat it, it was at the farmer’s market. A tasty and fun game of farmer’s market trivia. Yours truly would be one of the scavenger hunt winners later that day, little did I know!

Saturday afternoon we visited the Taste Pavilion which is where dozens of vendors came to showcase their wares. Bloggers sampled themselves silly on all kinds of delectable bites and in between nibbles chatted with each other to learn about their respective blogs.

After two hours and 2,000 calories, I made it through the Taste Pavilion. Stuffed, but happy to have met so many fabulous new blogging friends.

The festival ended with a gala dinner at the California Academy of Sciences where we dined amongst the sharks and fishes of the aquarium. A beautiful ending to a decadent few days of good food and even better conversation.

I left with a full tummy, lots of new friends and very fond memories of San Francisco. And that is something that is certainly buzz worthy.
