The California Wine Club Review

The holiday season is upon us and those of us who enjoy wine are searching for the perfect bottles to go with our holiday meals.

I’m no expert on wine, so I do a fair amount of research before I purchase a bottle. Does it go well with whatever I’m serving? Does it taste good? Do I need to sell off one of my kids to afford it?

These are serious questions, people.

So, when I was asked to review the California Wine Club, I was very interested. If there was ever a club made for me, it’s a wine club.
The California Wine Club is unique in that they hand pick each wine they feature. They personally visit each winery, meet the families and the winemakers. Then they select two bottles of their very best which they offer to their wine club members.

No bulk wines. No closeouts. No private labels. Just excellent quality California wines delivered right to your front door.

Each wine club shipment includes a copy of Uncorked, the club’s newsletter which is full of wine facts, tasting notes, tips and recipes. A great way to learn more about wine and the California wine scene!
To facilitate my review, the California Wine Club gave me a two month subscription. And for my first delivery, I received a 2009 The Seven Brothers Tempranillo from Napa Valley and a 2008 The Seven Brothers Sauvignon Blanc from Lake County.

Now, I’m a red wine girl. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tempranillo with the flavors of cranberry, blackberry and oak. A wine with strong tannins, it seemed that this wine was crafted for my palate.

The Sauvignon Blanc was appreciated by my dinner guests who preferred white wine. They commented on the wine’s crisp refreshing flavor and how well it went with the fish dish I was serving. It’s always nice when your dinner guests compliment your wine choice.

The California Wine Club offers several membership package choices. Their most popular is the Premier Club which includes two bottles of award winning wine at the cost of $49.95 which includes shipping. Members have the added benefit of reordering their favorites for up to 50% off retail.

This would make the perfect gift for that hard to buy for person on your Christmas list!

  1. What a great web site referral and review Melanie! I love to enjoy wine with my significant other and this would be a great gift just as you say. Thank you!

    • After visiting CA wine country, I appreciate this club even more. I love how they get to know the winemakers and their families. It’s small things like that that make such a big difference!! And sharing a glass of wine with a special someone is a special thing indeed!
