Every time I get back from a trip it takes me a few days to get my brain straight. So, what better time to write a post? A completely random post with no rhyme or reason? But it’s Friday so I get to do whatever I want, right? Isn’t that a weekend rule? If not, it should be.
Let’s start with my new favorite thing. My shoes. I bought these New Balance shoes recently and I swear they are the best travel purchase I’ve ever made.
I big puffy heart love these for traversing through airports. It’s like walking on little clouds. Cute stylish little clouds that go with just about any outfit. Part sneaker, part ballet flat and entirely adorable. I need to get the rest of the colors as soon as they go on sale somewhere.
Speaking of style, you might notice that I’ve been playing with my hair lately. Some of you have spotted the curls in recent pictures. It’s just an experiment right now. When I’m out in public for work, straight hair it is. And when I’m home with the family, I’m playing with curls. The jury is still way out on this one…
I mean, after years of flat ironing, I’m having a hard time getting used to the whole letting it go natural thing. It’s just a bit on the wild side. Even for me. I know. Hard to believe, right?
On to more random topics, let’s talk alcohol. I went to some amazing bar in Chicago and had the very best drink of my entire life. But don’t ask me the name of the bar. I have no idea. Some friends took me to this bar with no sign and by the time I was done with this drink I didn’t have the presence of mind to ask.
But it was the very best cocktail ever made. And custom made too! The bartender asked what flavors I liked and minutes later he poured this little bit of heaven.
I’ll have to do some investigating and find out exactly where I was.
The next morning I woke up from said bar experience and was ravenously hungry. So, I ventured over to Xoco which is a Rick Bayless restaurant and devoured this plate of wood oven chilaquiles along with a cup of Mexican hot chocolate and hibiscus tea. It was worth every. single. calorie. And in related news I will be adding about 100 miles to my running routine this week. Still worth it.
And now for some blog housekeeping…
Lots of people have been writing to tell me that my blog is not accessible via the iPhone. Yes, I am aware of this major problem. We are working on fixing that issue. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. I never knew how many people accessed my blog via cell phone until it went wonky. How you people can read a blog on your iPhone, I don’t know. Clearly your vision is much better than mine.
Speaking of vision, mine is a hot mess. Yours truly will be wearing glasses in the near future. Curls, glasses… what’s next? You’ll hardly recognize me by the end of September.
This weekend is sort of sleepy over here. Lots of fall baking and picture taking and a Red Sox game on Sunday. Not a bad lineup for the weekend.
How about you? Have you started fall baking? If you need a little inspiration for your apples, check this out. Happy weekend!
