Hello from Seattle! This week finds me at the International Food Blogger Conference which is located in one of my very favorite cities. There’s just so much to love about Seattle. The vibe here is totally chill and the food scene is pretty spectacular. A natural place for a food blogger’s conference.
Five minutes after checking into my hotel, I was off to devour the city. And my first stop was one of my very favorite Seattle eateries.
Beecher’s! If you’ve visited Seattle, odds are good that you know about Beecher’s. They are famous here for their truly delectable cheeses that they make right before your eyes.
And then they take that cheese and cook up some crazy good stuff including macaroni and cheese and killer sandwiches. Check this one out…
Grilled crab and cheese. Shut the front door, right? Actually, I tried to have this sandwich last year when I came to Seattle for BlogHer Food, but on the day I visited they sold out of the sandwiches by 11am. I could’ve cried.
I’ve been dreaming about that sandwich ever since and I was overjoyed when they told me that I could order one yesterday. I actually clapped my hands when they said the sandwich was available. I’m a dork. What can I say?
After my very dreamy lunch I walked around the streets of Seattle. There are street performers on every corner and some of them are quite interesting. This guy had a lot going on.
As I watched this guy do his thing, I thought that he and I have a lot in common. An odd skill set that just seems to work together. At least in our own minds anyway.
And then I went on to visit my most favorite market in the country. Pike Place Market. I saw this fish you see above and I couldn’t help but smile. Doesn’t it look like he wants to plant a big wet kiss on you?
Besides an incredible selection of fresh seafood, the market also sells some of the best produce I’ve ever seen, specialty food products that had all of the food bloggers swooning, fabulous flowers and tons of merchants selling handmade products.
I could very easily see myself living here. But I also say that about Chicago, San Francisco, and Dallas yet I remain in Boston.
Over the next few days I’ll be sharing my escapades here in Seattle. I imagine it will mostly be pictures of me eating really fattening food, but whatever. I’m at a food blogging conference. This is not the time to count calories. Have a great weekend!
