I was born lash challenged. As in the stubbiest eyelashes on the planet. As soon as my parents allowed me to wear makeup, I started curling my lashes and slathering copious amounts of mascara on them in a desperate attempt to make my tiny lashes look longer.
So, when I was invited last month to receive lash extensions at Lash L’Amour, the top eyelash extension salon in Boston, I was all in. I had heard of lash extensions before but hadn’t taken the time to look into it. No better time than right before the biggest blogging conference of the year when I wanted to dazzle.
Lash L’Amour has two locations. One in Newton Center and one on Newbury Street. I visited the Newbury Street location which was quite lovely. I was greeted by the owner Cynthia who proceeded to take me on a tour of the salon.
Tranquil and beautifully appointed, you will feel your blood pressure drop after setting your first foot across the threshold.
After a quick tour, Cynthia brought me to a cushy table where I hopped up and prepared to receive my sexy new long lashes. There are all kinds of different lash lengths and thicknesses at varying prices. Cynthia suggested I start off with the dramatic set which really makes sense because as we all know, I’m dramatic.
One of the things I noticed about their lash application area is that it’s very clean and organized. Cynthia started off placing a shield around my eyes so that just my lashes were exposed. I was pretty relieved because I was a little bit concerned that my eyes would accidentally be glued shut.
That was not an issue.
It took about an hour and a half for Cynthia to apply the lashes. It was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. When she was finished, she handed me a mirror and I took a peek. Whoa. It’s amazing what a set of eyelashes can do for a woman’s face. They were hot.
Here, you can see them better in this picture…
Pretty cool, huh? If you’d like to see some amazing eyelash before and afters, check this out. Now, I know that lash extensions are a bit pricey. I myself could not maintain them on a monthly basis. But if I had some type of major event like a wedding, reunion or other such event where I want to impress, I’d certainly consider having them put on for that occasion.
How long do the lashes stay on? Mine stayed put for just about a month. The salon offers a free touch up after seven days, but unfortunately my schedule didn’t allow for me to get into the city again to have them freshened up. Even still, I had gorgeous lashes for weeks and didn’t have to mess with a lash curler or mascara. Bonus!
How would you like to win a set of lashes? Lash L’Amour is offering a giveaway of a Quick Set lash application for two lucky local Boston area readers.
